TruthinessTV
What is TruthinessTV?
The aim of TruthinessTV is to write a media center backend server akin to MythTV that actually speaks the MythTV protocol in addition to some protocol extensions but provide a cleaner and more stable code base. One that does not use QT and X libraries for the backend code. The idea is to be able to work in a mixed environment with other MythTV backends and use the MythTV frontend.
Why is it called TruthinessTV?
Two reasons:
- The aim is to create something that communicates with MythTV but easier to setup and install and a cleaner code base so we wanted to go with an antonym of Myth. Other languages were tried and other words were sampled but in the end truthiness worked out to be the best.
- Truthiness as a tribute to Stephen Colbert and his comedic genius.
Isn't TruthinessTV a bit long?
Yes it is. That's why I'll refer to it as T3V or maybe T2TV. Why? Because I feel Truthiness can be abbreviated as TT and in the nature of Truthiness what matters is that I feel it is correct.
